About Our Church |
Lighthouse History |

The Lighthouse has not always been the name of the Foursquare church located in Rincon Valley. In 1996, a year after the Slaters began pastoring here, God began prompting a name change. Because of our own congregational personality and the sense that we were like a beacon to those in need of direction, that "The Lighthouse Santa Rosa" became the slogan name of the oldest Foursquare Church in Sonoma County.
This Foursquare Church was first pastored by Fred and Betty Wymore in 1940. Meetings were held in a tent in the downtown area, and later moved to 516 Sonoma Ave. There have been several other names for this particular Foursquare Church, including "Valley Chapel" and "Santa Rosa Foursquare Church". There have also been a number of pastors: the Franks, the Penningtons and Sammy Ogg. These are just a few of the names of leaders God put in place over the years.
In 1995 the Slaters stepped into the Santa Rosa Foursquare Church as temporary pastors, until the denomination could locate a pastor within the Foursquare network. In the first few months that they pastored "temporarily", church attendance grew from 8 to 54 ... it was clear God was up to something. It was at the beginnning of January 1996 when Foursquare leadership suggested that "temporary" should become permanent. On October 15, 2005, the Slaters celebrated 10 years of pastoring "The Lighthouse Santa Rosa". The church has grown to over 120 active members. We have been blessed to have baptized well over 100 people, to have seen a number of marriages restored and many people delivered from addictions.
Today there are seven Foursquare churches in Sonoma county, with more in the planning stages! It's the hope of "The Lighthouse Santa Rosa" to birth more churches in near future in other areas of Sonoma County.

Future development plans for our almost two acres include:
- New picnic B.B.Q. area with awning and tables
- School of supernatural ministry
- Walk ways and prayer garden
- Expanded parking areas
- Sanctuary expansion - plans are currently in process
To help support our sanctuary expansion project, specify "Building Fund" on your offering envelop or mail a check directly to: The Lighthouse Santa Rosa, P.O. Box 2810,Santa Rosa, CA 95405. If you mail a check, please note these funds are to be allocated to the "Building Fund" on the memo line.

Lighthouse Outreaches |
The Lighthouse actively supports the Redwood Gospel Mission. Our worship team members conduct the chapel services prior to meals at the several times a month. They lead worship, give testimonies, pray and reach out to the people. We encourage our members to give to and participate in the various outreaches RGM has during the year.

In addition we annually hold Resurection services on our grounds and make a real effort to invite the community to these events. We often have a large tent, free breakfast and Starbucks coffee along with an egg hunt for the kids following the service. This of course includes special music and most importantly a celebration of our risen Lord, and the transforming power of the resurrection avaliable for all believers today!

Since the year 2000, The Lighthouse Santa Rosa has participated in the Santa Rosa Rose Parade. The last three years we have been awarded trophies in the non-profit division. We reach out to several thousand people each year by sharing the Good News with praise and worship music, banners, signs and the crowd's favorite - water bottles and candy bags - with Good News attached to them!
